School Policies

Prospective students must be at least 17 years of age and in good physical health. No previous experience with horses is necessary. Class size is limited to 14 students per session.

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner, with respect to fellow students. Students can and will be expelled for poor academic performance or misconduct which includes the use of drugs or alcohol, fighting , stealing, cheating, profanity, creating a safety hazard, or indecent apparel during hours school is in operation.

Work and living areas must be kept clean at all times.
 

Grading Policy

Students are graded by percentages in 5 areas:

1) Weekly Test
2) Attendance
3) Final Test
4) Shoe Display
5) Final Practical.

A grade of 60% or higher must be achieved to receive a certificate, 70% or higher to receive a diploma. Written exams are given weekly on lecture and assigned reading. Students’ grades will be recorded at mid-term and at the end of each session. Students are given the opportunity to retake any exam with a score of 59% or below. The two exam grades will be averaged.

Attendance

Regular attendance is mandatory. Emergency leaves of absences will be granted provided prior approval is given. Three tardies will constitute one day of absence. Over 10% absences must be made up. All missed work must be made up by the student on his or her own time. Any student missing more than the number of days listed below are subject to dismissal from the program unless given approval by the Director.
